Williton Pavilion Project brings together a number of community inspired initiatives into a single scheme. The principle objective of the project is to provide the village with a central hub of community facilities that will provide for sport, leisure, social and recreational pursuits that is fully accessible to all and will provide a foundation stone from where we can help build a stronger sense of community within Williton.
The survey conducted during April 2013 provides a clear direction for the project along with an indication of public support. The requirements from the survey also provide for a scheme that fits perfectly into the role of the Memorial- Recreation Ground.
The project seeks to improve access through improved pedestrian links, disabled vehicle access, and an assembly area to support Armistice Day services that can be multifunctional, a planted area for quiet contemplation to ensure consideration is given to the memorial aspects of the ground.
Working with the local football team we are creating in conjunction with the Football Foundation a football development plan for Williton to encourage more junior football and coaching, this approach is being promoted within the village to encourage other sports to follow suit.
A user community is being formed and will be encouraged to take an active part in the development aspects of the project and its long term management.
The Pavilion Project is being designed by the community for the community who are an integrated partner and the main beneficiary, this approach we believe will ensure the project’s long term success and viability.
Planning permission was granted for the project in December 2014.
Please see Williton Window updates for current information.
Further updates to the project will be put on this page.
